Home at last!

Snuggled up in the bassinet

We were welcomed home with balloons and signs from our neighbors, Tim & Jenny. They have been wonderful to us throughout the pregnancy.
TIRED mama! But loving every minute!

My clothes are too big!! Why are you making me wear this silly hat??

It's almost over, but its only just begun!

Still Smiling...
We were both very happy at this moment to have been moved into a birthing room after spending five hours sharing a recovery room with another person. After being induced at 7:00 pm, I had steady contractions about 2 minutes apart with no pain until around 2:00 am. Then the pain kicked in, and our wonderful nurse helped relieve it with a non-narcotic medication. This helped take the edge off and allowed me to relax and dilate from 2cm to 4cm and break my water. Then the pain really started and I had an epidural, which kicked in around 5:00 am. By 6:00 I was already 9 1/2 cm dilated and I started pushing at 6:30. Kaden Joseph Strachan arrived at 7:40 am. He had a rough entrance into the world. His cord was wrapped twice around his neck which caused his heart rate to drop, so Dr. Clayton used a vacuum to assist with delivery.

Beach Trip in Emerald Isle

Lucas with his first catch of the day!

Brian trying to reel in what may be the world's largest fish.

Or maybe not... Upon closer inspection by a group of experienced fishermen we determined that he was hooked on the ocean floor. Bummer.

Baby Shower in Caro, MI

Beth's first shower was on August 4th in Caro, MI. It was an absolutely wonderful day, and we received all kinds of much appreciated baby gear.
